P-WAVE, INC. and ZOPE CORPORATION CREATE
BIOMEDICAL INDUSTRY DATA AND DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Reading, Pennsylvania, June 9, 2004 -- P-Wave, Inc., a leader in web-based application
development is collaborating with the Zope Corporation, to enhance P-Wave's
LabCORE™ product. P-Wave is utilizing Zope's Zope4Intranets product framework
with P-Wave's DocVault™ product to create a robust data and document
management solution for the biomedical industry.
New FDA regulatory requirements mandate that biomedical companies keep complete electronic records for 7 to 10 years. A complete electronic record includes not only traditional database fields, but also a full archive of related information, such as chromatograms, spectra, and raw data files. In addition, scientists and other laboratory professionals are required to correctly store and catalog all results and reports they create. Due to the huge volume of information generated, this presents major compliance challenges for laboratory management.
In the past, chromatographs and other graphic files were stored inefficiently or were simply printed out in a paper summary format resulting in major storage and tracking issues. Consequently, the opportunity to share vital data and collaborate with others was lost and critical information was not communicated. LabCORE dramatically solves these problems and improves information processes by assisting scientists to capture and present documents and data, quickly retrieve information, and by enabling laboratories to manage information, share files and documents, coordinate calendars, and collaborate efficiently. This results in significantly greater compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulations.
Jerry Whartenby, a renowned international FDA software compliance expert and P-Wave advisory board member says, "LabCORE represents a major improvement over existing products because it allows for the management of almost every file type and the efficient organization and retrieval of related documents. The addition of Zope Corporation's Zope4Intranets framework into the LabCORE product creates a much richer document management and collaboration product."
According to P-Wave's President Mark Ferrero, "Incorporating Zope4Intranets into LabCORE means we are able to offer the best Intranet and knowledge management compliance solution for biomedical laboratories in the marketplace today."
